Shopping for a Change® (SFAC) is a nonprofit social enterprise committed to empowering indigenous artisans (predominantly women) from economically disadvantaged communities around the world, raising their standards of living, subsidizing both community improvement projects abroad and U.S. based charitable organizations, all while further encouraging a sense of social consciousness amongst consumers. SFAC was established to create an extended global marketplace for fair trade products produced by artisans, artisan co-ops, and companies that employ these artisans. Working in symphony with over 55 partners in 30 countries we help educate artisans on competing in a world marketplace, while helping preserve local handicraft traditions, all while following fair trade principles. It is through these endeavors that SFAC is Empowering others, transforming lives® The artisans are paid up front for their work according to terms they set. All products are made in accordance with fair trade principles. Half of SFAC’s net proceeds fund Community Improvement Projects abroad in our artisans' communities, focused on clean water, health care and education. The other half is directed to various U.S.-based nonprofit organizations chosen by the consumer at checkout.

We sell beautiful solid wooden home and kitchen ware which we are developing all the time and we give 10% of every sale we make to a orphanage we work closely with in Guatemala. It is an orphanage my wife used to work at. All our products are ethically sourced and made. We are based in Plymouth UK and we sell worldwide. 2017 is an exciting year for us as we are developing our range of ethically made UK products designed by us. As a business we just want to sustainably make a difference to the orphans in particular as we grow we want to support the orphans who are due to leave or already left by providing them with the skills they need to succeed in life and hopefully investing in small businesses which they run.
